Title: Day Trip Charters from Tamarindo Costa Rica
Post by: NorthJerzSurfer on October 03, 2019, 08:46:13 AM
hey zoners

im taking my family to tamarindo thanksgiving week.

Trying to find any outfits that do day trips to local breaks either by boat or by car (Nosara, playa grande Ollies etec)

I know many camps do- but im just looking for one or two mornings i can slip away for a surf. Havent found anything on the internet outiside of camps and multiday tours

any help is appreciated.  Could be for prone or sup depending on what i can rent. Not bringing gear since it s 'family trip'  ;)

NorthJerz - PM me if you want, I head down there quite a bit. I'd recommend heading to Playa Avellanas (roughly 25 min or so from Tamarindo). Playa Avellanas is definitely the prettiest break in the area (from what I've found) and when it's good, it's really good. There's a nice rivermouth setup there along with Little Hawaii if you want a right, along with some other scattered breaks. I haven't made the Witches Rock/Ollie's trip, but I'm sure it's pretty good.

Nosara I like better for the most part, it's an easy beachbreak and the offshores are quite as strong as further north in the fall/winter.

Updating this thread, I'm probably going in late January for a quick trip (it's cheap on points). Just wondering who anyone has used to go to Witches Rock, thinking about making it out there just to mix the trip up a bit. Just wondering how SUP friendly it would be, etc.
