Title: Choosing the best foil thread
Post by: blueplanetsurf on September 10, 2019, 01:05:59 AM
I just finished writing a lengthy post to go with a video we recently posted with the basics of foil design and construction that are good to know before you buy a new foil, enjoy and let me know if anything is incorrect or additional things that should be added, I always appreciate the input here on the Standupzone.

Nice video as usual.

For beginner I definetly recommand a short mast, it makes a huge difference, people learn way faster.
Big wing, short mast, stiff mast are what you want if you have zero experience in foiling.

Agreed, that set up on a 7' or longer board in small, easy waves is perfect to learn on.

Robert,

Thanks for another very informative video.  I'm sure it took a lot of effort to shoot and edit.  Is there a Goldilocks mast length that you think is ideal?   26" is getting harder and harder to use as my ability improves.

Great video Robert, did you go over why the bottoms have white stripes on them?

Armie talks about it here... the original idea was for its shark repelling capabilities and he had a designer that he met jazz them up and he liked the outcome so it shows up on all their products now.   The new HS1550 looks nice.
