Got to see one of BP’s new foil boards today. They didn’t have any bigger ones on display, just this tiny 5’2” board. I do believe they have a couple of other sizes in stock though. The picture I got doesn’t show it very well but this board has a couple of interesting (at least to me) features. First, the chines look to be somewhat parallel, i.e. they don’t follow the outline of the board.
Second, and more interesting, is how much foam there is towards the back, under the mast. I’ve tried to paddle while pushing down on the nose with my board (it’s probably just too big and floaty) to catch small waves and I can’t do it. This new board looks like it might make it easier. Since I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m not sure. ;D
Anyway, looks like a nice design and the graphics are much improved, IMHO. I’m not a fan of the Rasta color scheme on their boards and it’s much toned done in this example. I’d sure like to try one in a size appropriate for me but I’d be sleeping outside with the dog if I brought another board home. :o

I believe the specs are:
5'2 x 26.5 x 5.1 x 94L
5'8 x 27.5 x 5.3 x 114L
6'2 x 28.5 x 5.3 x 142L

Thanks for the dimensions, exiled. Looks like I'm right between sizes. 114 liters is a little small and 142L is more than I need.

Yeah, my current foilboard is 7'0x30 @ 120L. I don't really want to drop any liters, but I worry that 142L will feel like standing on a giant wine cork.

but once up on the foil, does it really matter that you have 142L under you? i'm just wondering about the stability of this board while NOT up on the foil. at 6'2"*28"*5", it might be like trying to balance on a log. but very interesting nonetheless and want to know more.

Sorry, I didn’t get a pic of the bottom. It, too, had an unusual design. The back area behind the mast is a straight angle up to the tail. Flat where the boxes are. About halfway, the center area looked like a raised flat area roughly 5” wide. Gentle concave on either side of that running up to the nose.
I do think too much volume can make it harder to balance. More side to side rock, maybe a higher frequency type of thing.

I wonder if the 5'2 x 26.5 x 5.1 x 94L will be too big for a 60 kg/130lbs person?

The thickness of the foam towards the tail was, and still is, interesting to me. However, one consequence of that seems that when standing on the board normally, the foil might be angled upwards (meaning the wing would have positive angle of attack) quite a bit. Not sure if this is good or bad but I’d imagine it would make it harder to paddle to accelerate to catch a wave.

I think with foil boards the uglier it looks the better it goes. All the aesthetics we are used to go out the window

The new foils look great. Hard to tell from the video, but they look burly and strong. Two thumbs up for tuttle.
