Title: Go Pro Knoock off Recs

Just looking for an inexspensive video camera for surfing so i can grab some vids of my kids in the surf.
Likely wont be using it much. But would like something that can take a decent image.
Are any of the cheap go pro knock offs any good?

Judging by the reviews, most people seem pretty happy with that one. How can you go wrong for $36. I might have to get one.

Better late to this game, Too.   I'd bet a lot of development has peaked compared to a few years ago.  There may be 20 or more names on any of these cameras but mostly seem to have the same guts.  Creek would know best, but I'd bet you'd spend 10X the effort making a decent video to post vs taking one - unless home movies from the 50's are your goal.

This guy from the UK has probably tested every mobile video device ever.  I notice, even with him, a big dropoff in these small cameras.  At one time - 'he was the man' - for cheapo cams.  Now it looks like Dash Cams attract more attention.  (I got one he recommended - and it turns on every time I start the car, but I have never looked at it in a few years. ...'waiting for the big crash.)

That's exactly my problem with shooting video. The late, lamented Trace helped a lot with action sports by automatically editing out all the sitting around stuff, but they needed a version 2.0 and never got there.

I bought the Polaroid cube unit someone posted about on here a while ago. Everything is just OK. Image stabilization - OK but has definite limits, image quality just OK, sound quality OK muted some in the waterproof housing.

But.....I paid about $75 on Amazon with shipping for the camera, a bigger memory card and just about every single mount they make for it so you know, how can you complain.

We have had some fun with it.
