Title: CDrive fins preorder in USA
Post by: FRP on July 07, 2019, 11:27:20 AM
From Troy of Cdrive fame. I copied this from the Seabeeeze site.

“Good News C-Drive is back. I have teamed up with a US based company. They will be doing C-Drive Fins for FCS 1 & Futures - Thrusters and Quads Small, Medium & Large sizes.

They are doing a Pre-Order sale price on Thrusters for USD $75.00 - they will also do Quads on request ( sorry no twins just yet but very soon ).

You can let people know about it on your Seabreeze forum if you like.

The company is Surf NVS:

Contact emails below are Leif & Ragnar:

Cheers

Had an original set which I used in the Monster piece 9'4 King's SS model. A custom which morphed into a big wave winter board. Why and how that happened is another tale!

The large C-Drives were the best fins I ever had for carving on juicy winter open faces.

When I sold the board, needless to say, the plastic Carvers were reinstalled..

Had the C Drives out in overhead today on the 9'7 Creek. First time I had them out in bigger waves and while I don't have a great deal of experience with fins a few things really stood out to me. The hold/grip on the wave was really noticeable and made the high speeds easy to handle. I suspect it was  the wider base. Even with the hold the board was super loose. The fins provided great drive and acceleration off the bottom and the drive off my backside was significantly better. My cutbacks aren't great but they felt pretty fluid today. I bought these fins for smaller waves but found the hold and drive a really great fit for The Creek in larger waves.

Yes these fins seem to be a good compliment to the Creek. I have small cdrives in my 8’7” Creek with a tiny Cdrive copy trailer. I was out yesterday in small waves and they seem to hold well in steeper sections and yet loose. They really have increased my confidence when dropping into bigger waves. One of our local surf shops used to carry them and sold them as a big wave fin. I wonder if perhaps they are particularly well suited to SUP surfing?

I currently ride an 8'2" Speeed with the stock 105's.

I believe the board is over finned anti is really apparent when there's a bit of current as I can feel the push while waiting in the line up.

I am ~78 kg's and assume I would go with the C Drive's in a size small as below:

https://www.surfnvs.com/collections/specialty/products/c-drive-s-apex

I don't see the trailer fin on the site that some refer to here.

Any perspective or suggestions appreciated - thx!

I clicked on your link.

It looked exactly like the one I used to order a set.

Three fins, a left, a right, and a center.

They are awesome.

Only issue that I can see if you have a center box with a plate and screw you are in trouble and would have to use an FCS adapter.

I believe the Speed uses twin tab boxes in all positions so you should have no problems.

mrbid,

All FCS tabs - no US Box.

Let me know if you have any idea on proper size.

Thank you,

At 105 kg I was using the C-Drive L size in my 8'8 Speeed, so I would say yeah, probably the Smalls, depending on your style. The channels on the Speeed always seemed to give me extra hold, I never felt like the board slipped out on any size wave.

Good call to go with the small Cdrives on your 8’2”Speeed. If you want to loosen it up further put in a small trailer or order a (Cdrive copy) small trailer from Pacific Vibrations.

I have racked up so many Futures and now just picked up a fun custom (for someone else - used) that uses FCS.    Its running a quad plus middle but i think C drive thruster will be perfect to get it on rail in the bigger choppier winter swells.  think im in for a pair of these

Is there an option that has a center fin that fits a US Center box?

Fins - small - came late so only surfed them today.

Speeed was noticeably looser and could snap tighter turns.

I will try the small trailer soon.

Thanks for all the input.

Bye - bye Humberto...

Hi Bid

That is same fin setup I am using with my 8’7” Creek (small Cdrives with a Pacific vibration small trailer) Looking forward to your comments once you get out a few times. For me it is a keeper!

I'm surprised to hear that. I would have expected just the opposite with such a long fin base. More speed/drive/hold but slightly less loose.

I've always liked the look of the C-Drives. Looking forward to more reviews.

You can put the FCS fin into a FCS Fin Box Adapter
