How cool is this, a three axis CNC router for less than two hundred bucks. Yes, it's a toy--sort of--but I figured I'd learn about the software and use with this weeny little thing and then get real later. There's a very active Facebook group and people modifying this to make it more useful. I built it and got the software running in about five hours.

Jeeze that seems cheap. Appears new too. Will you be able to make some wings with this setup? If so I want one.

Yup, brand new, from Sainsmart.com . Comes as a kit. You couldn't buy the pieces for that. But no, won't do much, and if it does it takes forever. No power. But it works and I'm learning a bit. When I'm done I'll give it to one of the grandsons.

That’s a great little lab there man. Work out the software and the kinks and then scale up.
-
I should do the same. I'd want a bigger table though. I know even those are pretty cheap now.

Pretty cool so far. The base software is open source GRBL through a front end called Candle. Mostly though I'm using Easel which is web software designed for the X-carve machines but it works fine with the Sainsmart machine after a little creative setup tweaking. Since it's broser based I can use it on any machine.
Bob--pretty cheap meaning $189.00? I'm learning a lot with this and the end result will be I'll have a much better idea of what I want. Right now I'm thinking water-cooled spindle motor that really cranks.

I spent $1200 nzd on building a cnc big enough to cut wings, amazing tool and the accuracy is just incredible, about to sell it off to pay for a bigger one ::) , can't quite do a big wing in one piece.

Ok Kiwi, when you starting to sell your foil kits man? ;)
