Title: Goggles and masks?
Post by: spirit4earth on June 12, 2019, 04:15:03 PM
Can anyone suggest good goggles or masks for ocean use?  Next time I’m at the beach, I want to do some underwater exploration.  Polarized would be a big plus.
Thanks!

That’s a tough one as you really should try them on. They all fit differently and the seal is critical so what works for me might be unusable for you due to our faces not being at all the same.

I bought a plain black low volume freediving mask from my local dive shop. $40, nothing fancy but it works great. I tried all the expensive masks at the dive shop and none fit me so it’s good I didn’t order the highest rated one online.

Some folks like the extra light from the clear silicone masks as they feel less claustrophobic.

You really can’t go wrong if you watch a couple of YouTube videos and test fit them. If you order online make sure you can return anything you get as I tried several masks before I got s good fit.

But it’s so fun to look around. In the summer I keep my stuff in the car whenever I go to the beach in case I want to poke around a bit.
