Hello,
I have a board with a quad fin set up and bought a set of twin fins to try out. Where should I place the larger twin fins, in the back closer to the tail or in the front ones further from the tail?
Thanks and sorry if this has already been posted or in the wrong thread. ;)

Further from the tail

It will depend on
The board
How and where the fin boxes are placed
The fins.

Experiment
I used the smallest fins in the back boxes on a 8'5. I was very happy. It was
loose, could slide at will and with back foot placement still had drive.
Try different setups to see what you like best. As tw said, they are all unique.

Experiment away, but if it looks like this, well...

"Reverse thrusters" might work but probably not "reverse 2 +1"
;D

And then there is the Twinzer..

weird, biggie---ive always seen the bigger fins in a quad setup forward, with the rears slightly smaller
your setup is like a twin-fin, with tweaky fronts and center

Twinzers are weird.

I shaped Twinzers for years after the Will Jobson principles and those were amazing boards. The small fins prevented the big fins from cavitating in turns by keeping the water attached to the outside of the fins
