Title: West swell?
Post by: surfinJ on April 05, 2019, 12:11:19 PM
Hi guys,
About to do a quick pass thru, Sunday and Monday. The swell will be long period direct west about 3-5’ with favorable winds in the am.

Any tips for spots that pick up the a west swell?  San Clemente to county line past Malibu is about what I’ll range.

Thanks

I use these websites

http://cdip.ucsd.edu/recent/model_images/socal_now.png

It shows how the current swell is hitting the So Cal coast with island blockage.

This shows off shore and near shore buoys

SanO is out for Saturday morning. After that we get F'n south winds..  Doheny has been looking fun the past few days. Probably extra crowded Sat. due to SanO closure.

From Surfline ... NOTE: There will be no vehicle access to the San Onofre Bluffs Campground (Trails) on April 6, 2019 from 6AM to 12PM due the 70.3 Iron-man event that will be traversing San Onofre on bicycles. The right turn pocket to San Onofre Surf Beach "Old Man's" will be closed during the race, but vehicles may enter Surf Beach through the exit road.

Thanks Tom, good resources those. I’ve got my old and well used Surfing California book and combined with the site I’ll be set.
And TallDude, thanks for the heads up on SanO. I’m staying in LA and will first look local. There is an off the beaten path cove in the Palos Verdes zone that should pick up the west, or Topanga. Maybe Monday am down the coast to SanO.
