too bad about he onshore conditions
-
Brutal conditions, doesn't even look fun.

I met James in Rockaway last year. Nice guy. I'm glad he did well.

I caught some of that. Really was a washing machine out there. Can't even imagine riding one of those tiny sups. Let alone stand on the thing.
7'6"x24'' and about 175 ltrs...no thanx!

The final day is quite good--and you can watch them on rewind. The waves in the morning were fantastic with barrel rides and all!!

Here are some photos and a nice writeup by Zane Saenz, our young up and coming team rider from the North Shore, competing at Sunset for the first time:

James is a nice guy, he spent a few days here in Maui last week, mostly foiling but ripping on his SUP too. He can get a lot out of a dinky wave, reminds me of Dave Kalama in that regard.

nice to see the pros proning out and falling while waiting. Makes me not feel so bad.

What a great kid. I look forward to seeing him make a name for himself. Little Zane.

I had the chance to interview Tristan Boxford, the head of the World Tour, a few days after the event about the contest and the future of the sport. Contest highlights paying in the background:

Nicely done Robert 8) Thx.

Great interview. Having come late to the sport, I always feel like people are talking about the "good old days" (like 2 years ago) and a decline. Its nice to hear a little perspective.
