Has anyone found an elegant way to WEIGH surfboards?
Weighing your surfboards can great to identify when they may be taking on water sooner rather than later.
I have a 200 lbs capacity scale hanging from the ceiling that I used to weigh my Foil Board. But it is just 6' 6" long and can be hung vertically.
It would be nice to have some sort of sling to slide surfboards into that could hang from a similar hook and stow/pack away quickly.

I use a bathroom scale. I calibrate it with a 20 lb barbell weight. Then I stand the board on the scale tail down.

Digital bathroom scale and math. I have checked it by weighing myself and then me with a couple of different dumbbells and the math worked. So I have weighed awkward things by carrying them and stepping on the scale and subtracting my weight, which I get right then as it varies from day to day and depending on what I am wearing.

Lab scale, stand it on the nose. Mine goes to 50 pounds. Great for mixing epoxy also.

Yeah the digital bathroom scale is good. Also, probably not accurate enough to let you tweak out over a pound or so. ;)

I have experimented some with mine and it isn't terrible. It reads down to 1/5 of a pound; one decimal place but the fractional part is always an even number. They are kind of weird to test. You have to weigh yourself or something and then weigh three other things of varying weight before you weigh yourself or the first thing again. That's because it remembers the last couple of weights and if you weigh something that is really close it will show the same number again. Kind of deceptive but makes people happier with them. Anyway, at ~155 pounds I can play that game and get 3 different numbers across a range of .4 pounds (like 154.8, 155.0, 155.2). Factor in rounding up and rounding down and it is more like a half pound.
You could question my test of accuracy on additional weight also. Does my kettlebell actually weigh 18 pounds? What about my 30 pound dumbbells?
I also have a hand held luggage scale I could use. I would have to hoist it with a rope over a branch or something. I would have to hoist the board by a loop in the leash clip. It has a needle that stays at the max weight, so I would be able to read it when I let it back down. I would just have to be sure to raise it from the ground slowly so there wasn't a false max. That seems like way too much trouble.
A couple of people have talked about balancing boards to get the weight. I don't think you can get complete accuracy if you are touching it.
The bottom line is that unless you have some equipment designed for weighing large objects with extreme accuracy it's not going to be exact. The point is to look for water intrusion and "a pint's a pound the world round" so being able to detect less water than that will be really difficult. What's good enough?

I use a regular scale. I have one at work that has a nice large surface so it's easy to balance the board on. I also use a small digital scale with a small box on top to give clearance for the board.

This discussion got me interested enough to check. I am paddling this afternoon, so I was getting it out anyway. My big honkin' Glide came in at 33.2, just over a pound lower than the published spec, using my method of (me and board on digital bathroom scale) - (me on same scale). Someone on seabreeze posted that theirs was 33.5, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume I am pretty close.

I use a digital shipping scale, that has tethered readout for easy viewing
I place the scale on a milk crate.
Place the board flat on the scale, handle centered, and take a picture of the readout with the board.

I'm liking the CREEK option.
I was using my homemade sling, sliding board in/out and dropped my 10' 6" on the nose cracking it open. That added a 30 minute repair job. :o
