Title: PSH 12 gun
Post by: Cruisinby on December 03, 2018, 08:39:32 PM
Finnaly after 100 days of searching I scored a very nice 12 ft PSH Gun !   Bright yellow in near perfect shape.
Awe the glide, the trim on small waves, something about long & lean that feels so good.  Of all the boards I have and have owned pushing 15 plus, the 12 footer is my secong favorite of all time.

It also has a magical quality of either clearing a lineup or just blending in !    Being old, ugly and talking to myself in the water helps as well.

Thanks to my friend in the Pismo area for parting with with this gem and making me a happy guy !   I will take better care of this one than I did the last one.

Is it the PSH Hull Paddler 12'6 or a different model?

I've become a BIG fan of long sups since I own a 11'1" board. I know you will enjoy every moment you're riding or fishing from your new Glide.

The 12' PSH Gun is super versatile.

Works great in little 1' rollers, REALLY well in BIG waves and even BETTER in Gigantic waves.

Let's you in like you are riding in a Cadillac.

How come I've never heard of this model? Seems a little overly thick and voluminous for me but otherwise perfect. I want one.

PSH 12' Gun

DIMENSIONS
Height: 12'0"
Width: 28 7/8"
Thickness: 4 3/4"
Fins: 2 + 1 or Quad

VOLUME
Liters: 196

Design Notes
This board is intended for paddling into and charging huge waves, we’re talking Mavericks or Waimea. The 12'0" also works well for fast flatwater paddling or performance surfing.

PSH was in the game early 10 yrs ago.   Im not sure what happened to them.   I have an 09 version that I put a mast track in for lite wind sailing.   I still use it that way and bay paddles.   It has gained weight over the yrs but she still glides.   The newer version is very light and works well in the waves.   As all have stated, it works well in most any size wave short of beach break close outs,  come to think of it I don't work so well in beach break close these days either.

Thanks for posting the video for the PSH 12' Gun. I enjoyed watching it. The waves in this video remind me of the waves I sometimes encounter here on the upper Texas Coast where I sup surf. And I surf my 11' board the same way on our small waves but with a 4 fin quad setup.

You mean like this!

Haley Fiske claims this was the biggest wave ever caught on an SUP.  There was NO question about this back in 2010.

12' PSH Gun

Note:  Check out the Perfect Control and Flat Water performance of the board at the very end.  His look of confidence down the line as a planet full of water is landing on his back foot always makes me giggle.

All of my boards are given names.  The new 12 ft PSH goes by the name "Point & Shoot" !   This board can make sections one would not thought possible.  The fun meter is on HIGH in the right conditions.  Thanks again to to Will letting her go !

Other boards go by The Interprise,  The Intriped and so on it goes !

PADDLE ON !!!!!!!!

I want one too!

I wish more companies would make boards like this. Maybe tweak it just a bit for waves around head high.

It always seems odd to me when high demand items get dropped or in this case not have similar products show up to cater to that demand. The resale market on V2 Naish Glides is insane - boards are going for far more than new Glides. I don't think they need to abandon the new ones, but it seems like they would offer the old design also.

This is what I want Tino and Bert to design me out of the Sunova 12' Search, still waiting for their thoughts on it.

That's awesome that you are talking to Bert about it. The existing Search is too all around and slow. It needs to be souped up for pure high performance surfing with more glide and easy turning in waist to head high waves. I'd like to see what he comes up with.

I'm thinking 12' x 28" around 150 liters with slightly hard rails and slimmer outline.

Somes times the originals are always the best, like old movies.  It takes time to realize what we had,  get lucky to revisit and regain what we lost.    Funny how we gravitate thru the newest latest and greatest only to return to old friends.  There is no one board can do it all.   In my book, 3 boards cover all the areas my skill level & water conditions.    I have one that is always in the van that will cover 80%  of the conditions I usually encounter .   I also do understand one can not have to many boards !

Tip of the day:  Experimenting with new Ideas is a great & healthy endeavor !!!!!

That's why I have three boards, but I'm always trying to perfect the quiver.

In this case, I'm looking for a 12 footer that is designed purely for performance surfing and nothing else. I want to upgrade from my M-12'6 because I no longer do flatwater or downwind. All I do is surf now.

The M-12'6 is fun to surf, but the board I have in mind will surf a lot better. The current 12' Search is not the board I have in mind.

12' Jimmy Lewis Bombora is supposed to be similar to the 12' PSH.

Here is another perspective on 'easy in'

One concern I have with the Bombora 12' is that it is designed for gigantic waves with a lot of rocker as well as a long nose scoop which shortens the waterline. I wonder if this shape might have drawbacks in much smaller waist to head high conditions. I would hate to buy it and discover that it's slow and unresponsive in mushy waves which is exactly what I went through with the JL Stun Gun.

In other words, the design qualities that make a board work well in giant waves might not perform the same in smaller conditions. The board I'm thinking of has to have plenty of glide and boards with excessive rocker do not glide well.

One great thing about surfing the M-12'6 is the incredible amount of glide that it has.

rbgar was ripping the 14'r on his very first wave!
It took me a LOT longer to master this board.

Such a fun session... pure glass, just the 2 of us trading waves  :)

I had to spin my head around like in Regan in the Exorcist, to get this shot. Wish I got his whole ride!

Why not ask Blaine? to make you a carbon copy?  Or, is that too pricey?
