Title: Wavepool produces 2,400 waves per hour.
Post by: Zooport on November 11, 2018, 06:15:18 PM
Sorry if this is old news to anyone, but it's amazing to me.  This wavepool in Melborne supposedly produces 2,400 waves per hour and supports a number of peaks breaking at the same time.  I don't know much about this stuff, but this technology seems like it would be much more cost-effective than the Kelly Slater system.  What do you think?

Looks promising but not anywhere close to the quality of Kelly's wave

Oops, it's in Queensland, not Melborne.

I wish we were getting one in North Carolina.  At 2400 waves per hour, everyone should get enough waves.

Paying for waves?????? ::) If you're land locked, I could see that. Could be a major Kooksville with guards blowing whistles and people getting kicked out? You might even have to pass a test to be on the better waves, or foamies only? Actually a swimming test wouldn't be a bad idea.

2400 waves per hour . Really?.   Did I miss something in the video, it's a single point source wave generator that produces a circular wave from a pump agitator. Is the pump going up and down at 40 RPM?  It looks slower in the video so wondering where they get the 2400 figure.   I heard they are saying it affects 5 different breaks so maybe divide that 40 RPM by 5 and you get  8 waves per minute or a period of  7.5 seconds.  Meh.

That circular wave pool produces very short waves (length and timewise), but looks good for beginners.
It should be good for the kiddies, better than miniature golf.
