Title: Just installed my first traction pad woo hoo
Post by: oceanAddict on April 13, 2018, 10:40:38 PM
Hey there,

Just finished installing my first traction pad. Finally! Between all projects, this one was on the back burner for too long. In the end, it was not that difficult. But I had to pull the first piece because I started to install in uneven. My board had a factory installed pad but it short and I had a hard time as soon as I try to move a little bit back. I've got a large pre-cut kit from Amazon and altered it. Boing always paranoid about details and appearance, I made paper templates for all panels that need to be cut, u can see pieces of rosin paper in some shots. I think it turned out not bad.

Cannot wait to try it  :)  8)

I get my new board (Sunova Allwater Faast Pro) the day before the Carolina Cup, and I plan on putting some pieces of padding on it.  Hopefully I can do that before the race.  Like the OP, I want some padding further back for when I step back on the board.  I got a bunch of basically 1'x3" strips in black and blue, and I'm gonna make a thin blue line pattern with them.  I think if I don't mess it up, it will come out looking nice.

Check your instructions, but it’s usually a good idea to wait 2-6 hours before using, to let the adhesive bond properly.

Yeah I waited until I got home from the Carolina Cup to add the extra padding.  I got these strips of EVA foam off eBay (in packages of four strips), and apparently the consistency of color between packages isn't quite there.  But overall, I like how it turned out.  And it ended up being cheap as hell to do.  The hardest part was getting the curves right, around the existing padding.
