I think it's interesting to see him now focusing his professional career on big wave prone surfing.

Yeah. Makes sense. I have to say it seems to me the SUP tour has a bit of local and small town feel to it. The amount of people they attract to watch is pretty dismal even to an awesome event like RedBull HeavyWater.
I think the organization needs people who understands how to market and communicate the product and create some production value at the event so they can grow the spectators. The lack of communication will keep normal people from coming...and I am kind of assuming this holds for the rest of the events as well.

It would have been nice if they had mentioned who built the board he won, that being Sean Ordonez, and I wouldn't be surprised if he uses Sean as his big wave board supplier, I hope he does.  Sean's boards showed very well in the last Jaws Challenge, his girlfriend winning the lady's division on one of his boards, and many of the men were using his boards.

Yo, he's going on the QS tour. That's shortboarding boys. His goal is to qualify for the Triple Crown, again, not big wave, he's going pro for real.

It makes sense. He's an amazing surfer, why not complete in the big show. He's already won everything in SUP. The money is better and who wants to end up 30 and taking the podium for the Carolina Cup for the 8th time when you could win the Pipe Masters?

He can fall back to SUP at 30 and kill it all again if he wants. Jaime Mitchell probably got him to thinking. Running his career in reverse could have made JM a lot more money I'll bet.

If you're looking for his new board sponsor, bet on JS or Pyzel over any SUP brand.

I have a feeling he is going to do something with Kelly imho  anyway.
Kelly and Kai were hanging out over here on Maui last week, just some things that make you go hmmmmmm.
K&K  ?  ;D.
I am sure Kelly would love to have Kai ride his boards as well.
