Nice racing sup video. I enjoyed seeing all the different racing sups. One that caught my eye was a DC model which didn't look like a dugout.

Nice to see Titou was rocking a flat-top, and Bernd Roediger, as always, killing it on the simplest of 14' boards.

I can see conditions being well suited to dugouts.

Yes I agree.. I was surprised to hear that Bernd (on a Maliko) was beaten by Mat (on an Ace) in the 14’ stock class but then I heard that the first half was pretty average DW conditions and that would favour the dugouts for sure.. It’s also why the guy on the foil didn’t win considering he had won a recent race against a field of ski’s.

No.. because this race is about 3,000 klms (1,800 miles) from where I live.

That's too bad.

It sounded like there were some "sticky" conditions at least for some part of the race,
would be interesting to see how the Maliko handles that.

BTW, if you were to choose a place for year round paddling, would you prefer your area or Perth area?

Is the common wisdom now even from the die-hard that dugout are best for lighter conditions and Maliko/Vapor shape best for stronger conditions? I guess the traditional SIC shape are still best for even stronger Hawaii big swell and strongest winds?
So as wind and ocean swell increase dugout>Maliko/Vapor>SIC DW shape

Wind was pretty lite but good bumps the whole way right from the start, Matt took a wide line but looked strong the whole way.
