Post by: supthecreek on November 26, 2017, 02:24:40 PM
Mash-up of my summer/fall sessions, with a little James Casey riding my 9'4 mixed in, and..

Bonus round:
the "Creek" gets a little love at the Aussie Titles   :)

Another nice video. Love the length of the video too. And I paid attention to your "gutless ankle lickers" since I see lots of them at my haunts.

Thanks for sharing this video.

Great surfing, nice board, and super cool closing clip with the birds and the sunset.  Is Sunova actually making a production model of your specs...a "Creek" model?

Some fun looking waves Creek. The offshore just standing it up. Aside from the bottom channels and tail cut (and durability!), your Creek is almost the same shape, length, width and volume as my green machine. For our weight similar weight, it's a great shorter board. Mine really works best on steep faces. It'll be fun to see you more from the SS3 perspective. You'll be able to switch back and forth between cameras on your edits.

Nice mash! Funny, I always kinda didn't like the head-cam pov. But after watching you carve up those killer waves I feel differently. It was like I was surfing em! Well almost! That Sunova Creek looks awesome. love the colors too.

Thanks Zoo... yes, they liked my design and decided to make it a model before mine was delivered.

I say "my design", but I simply took parts of 3 Sunova's that I liked best and combined them to suit me personally.

I love my 9'4 Acid, but it simply wasn't possible in full winter gear.

So, I took:

the outline of the 9'2 Skate (Very Stable)
The entire tail of the 9'2 Speeed, keeping the exact same tail rocker of the 9'2
The performance rocker and nose kick of the Acid

then asked Bert if there was anyway he could stretch it to 9'4, somehow make the rocker and rail foil work with that outline and tail combo.

Bert loved the concept exactly as it was, then worked his magic on the rocker, foil blend.

It was in full production, as a model, before I got mine wet.
They decided to used the color blend I asked for as standard.

The orange 7'7 that James used in the Australian National Championships was the third "Creek" made. Stock shape, with custom orange tint.

They have been quite a few sold around the world already.

I only had one board in mind when I designed it, so all this is very cool!

Much faster IMO, since I always "pump" for speed as I did on shortboards.
The rail curve on the Creek allows for much quicker pumping than the parallel rails of my Speeeds.
It also feels faster without needing to pump.

On my 9'2 Speeed, I have to "move back" to pump off the tail.
Maybe in the smaller size Speeeds (7'ers and low 8's) the riders back foot is always on the tail, so they may experience better "pumping" than my larger size.

The sweetness of the Speeed tail carve and solid drive through turns has always held my belief that it is the best tail I have ever ridden.... which is exactly why I put it on the Creek.

Email quote from an Aussie Creek rider (with his permission):
He swapped his 7'7 Creek for a 7'5 Creek

Yeah mate. Re post away :)
I don't think I mentioned before but I swapped the board with Tino in KL on the way to the Mentawai's.

Rode the board in some pretty solid waves and she handled well.

Some  waves were 12 ft faces with plenty of power and didn't have it skip out on my bottom turns

Heh, Heh, 'nother great vid.  I will slalom seaweed clumps (fun), but don't like slaloming proners, so tend to be restricted to the open spots.

Wow, so cool!  I might be in the market for a Creek sometime in the future!  I'm getting tired of wide, square tailed boards.

Interesting comment about pumping. I have found that the Speed doesn't pump well, but has a lot of drive. It seems to speed up on a bottom turn but doesn't gain any speed going down the line.

Thanks Off-Shore!

I understand you are in New England or New York now?

If you ever get out to Cape Cod... please get in touch... plenty of incredible flat-water to explore when there is no surf!

Bring Ichabod  :)

Sunova's have the LiftSup handle that everybody hates and I love them.  Maybe it's because I don't have to wear gloves.

Ok, not everybody, I guess.   I sold the board that had a LiftSup and I don't really miss the board...but I miss the handle.  LOL
