Gents-- the deck pad on my L41 is coming off after about a year of use. I have re-glued it with epoxy several times, duct taped it several times, and it just keeps peeling off. It's now gotta be removed and replaced.
Options as I see them:
1. Wax and standard tail pad -- this is cheapest as I would not need to have the residual adhesive removed.
2. RS Pro Hexatraction and standard tail pad
3. New full deck pad w/ tail pad
For those who have had to replace deck pads, or who just have experience with different set-ups, what do you think is the best option? And for those who suggest option #3, what deck pad(s) do you recommend?

I order mine from King’s paddlesports - next time use contact cement to re glue the deck pad.

I've used 3M spray can contact cement to reglue my L41 deck pad. Works extremely well, no issues since the reglue. I believe this is the same stuff they use from the factory.

Newps, thanks. How did you do the re-glue? Did you sand/remove any of the residual adhesive on the deck of the board? How did you keep the pad down once set? Books or weights?

I've used all three setups. My personal preference- FCS dimple pad and a traditional surfboard tail pad.
Hexatraction did not have the versatility to go from bare feet to booties. And I'm in booties half the year.
I love wax as an option. But not dealing with it ( melting, reapplying, not able to stack boards, boards get was all over the car) made me ditch it.
Still looking for a cheap soft cover that will allow me to go back to wax on one of my boards. Till then FCS and tailpad.

Use blue tape to mask off any areas you don't want the cement on. Also cover you hands with disposable gloves. It's messy stuff and shoots out of the can like a fire hose. I would spray some on a piece of cardboard and then use Popsicle sticks to move it around and in all the corners. I pulled back the section that was coming up a little and cleaned it out of sand and any old glue. Don't use too much or it makes a mess, oozes out and makes the drying time longer. The stuff is strong, anything that is coated will stick to the board. I used misc 1 gallon plastic jugs filled with water or whatever was in them to hold it in place while it dried overnight. It's been at least 9 months since the repare and no issue.

Just get the $5 brush on contact cement and a cheap $1 small paint brush way more cleaner application than spraying it, no need to mask anything off.

Contact cement gets my vote just brush to both surfaces don’t stick it down right away let it dry for about 10-15 min. Then press together always seems to work.

I've done several full replacement jobs on pads. Lot's of great options out there that are very personally specific, but deck pad jobs take time to get them done right.
My two cents: Don't peel it off just yet. Keep the original pad and try to work the contact cement solution, or experiment with crazy glue or a hot glue gun. Use all that time saved scraping and prepping for a new pad to surf more, take a few naps, drink a few beers, chase the wife around the house, etc.

I am using a on a mission deck pad them hex traction and then a tail pad.

I just cant get my reglue jobs to stick! Been using 3m contact in a spray can. Spray both surfaces, come back in 15 and press togther. a month later, back to square one.
Do i need to really have a super clean surface to do it? And if os, what is the safest and easiest way ot remove the old cement?

Gel Contact cement will solve your problem. Google it
