By now the whole country is aware of this. Sadly, our city officials were fully aware of this possibility and failed miserably to stop it. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/health/sd-me-faulconer-hepatitis-20170919-story.html

:-X Yeah notice San Diego City did not announce the sidewalk cleanings until the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend at the end of the summer tourist season - don't want to scare those folks away from eating down in the Gaslamp etc.
Glad most of the shit they are washing off the sidewalks goes into San Diego bay and not north. For years in North County there were problems with migrant camps along the San Diegieuto Creek and other areas. They solved that problem by building houses where migrants camped. Decent public toilets sound like a communist plot to a certain segment of our population. The same people who retire here and don't want to pay for schools or libraries.
If I was a tourist not sure I would want my kids using the bathrooms at the beaches now. I also won't be eating at any downtown establishments.

Which is just laughable and sad at the same time.

The lack of public restrooms has been a hot topic in San Diego for quite a while with no action. The biggest road block, according to the mayor and city council is the cost, which is total bullshit. I just got back from Baja, a poor states in a poor country, and all the public restrooms there are plentiful, clean, and safe, something San Diego cannot accomplish with their few public restrooms.
The reason... they hire people to maintain them who also accept tips. If they tried that in San Diego, they would have to hire city workers who are too expensive. It makes sense to our civic leaders to spend money to fix health issues instead of provide a service to its populace.

Now I know why the Chargers left.

Now I know why the Chargers left.
Except they moved to an area that has the exact same problem.

Both are sanctuary cities, is there a connection? Some think so.

Yup. Spend more money to clean up the mess they let happen instead of spending less money to fix the problem before it happens. People who work for the city are the first to admit that off the clock.

"Both are sanctuary cities, is there a connection? Some think so."
Do you think so?
If so, what leads you to believe that? If not, what leads "some" to think so?
"Some" think the world is flat.

San Diego has either the 3rd or 4th largest homeless populations in the country. They do not have public restrooms or places to wash their hands after they crap in the streets. (I think the liberals would like to provide more services for them and the conservatives say think they should just quit being poor). You see very few Mexican immigrants among the homeless.
-
"The ultra liberal city of San Diego" that's a laugh. They have certainly never visited San Diego.
It's true very few Mexican migrants are among the down and out downtown homeless. There was a study a few years ago that showed a very high percentage of US veterans in San Diego homeless population. Kind of sad commentary on conservative values. There are migrants that live in camps in the outlying areas and do day labor, farm and construction work - but they are not the issue downtown. The issue is the city hopes to drive them out by making it unpleasant and now deadly to live on the streets. It's a warm climate, many of them were stationed here or grew up here, where do they want them to go?

Calm down, it's not my opinion, I have seen several articles in the news trying to make that connection, that's all. Just wondering if anyone thought there is something to it. I'm a S.D. native, don't live there anymore, but I still care.

i am completely calm thanks--but firm
read what you wrote--your comment was a cheesy attempt to get legs to a dirty fake scapegoat story:
"Both are sanctuary cities, is there a connection? Some think so."

i wont read crap like that and let it stand--deal with being called out, or dont post the crap
