Allwater type nose vs displacement nose: Which is faster for a flatwater distance race?
For anyone following the racing in Copenhagen (ISA worlds) I think we have our answer. It's all about the paddler.
Annabel Anderson won on a [borrowed] Allstar. A fleet of Sprints coming in behind her.

..... or 'spite of' rather than 'because of' ? That result doesn't tell you much at all. She may have been faster on a sprint..... but she may not.

Tell's me it's still about the paddler and less the board. Also tells me the Sprint less faster than the Allstar than Anabel is faster than Soni.
Which is what I've thought all along.

That's about all it tells you, once you'd tested both board your self you'd know which board
is faster (but only for you since it's all about the driver)

Annabelle a free agent and not a peep from Lahui Kai after their initial offering. Rumor was changes were coming. I hope we see something new from Brian really soon. I know he can't be happy just sitting on the sidelines.

Yes, have been wondering for a while now what's going on with Lahui Kai and also with Brian. There was another a while ago on this, but it seemed to die a natural death.

Last time I checked in with him he was recovering from an injury and he wasn’t

Haven't watched the race but this photo tells a different story...
Annabel's not in that pic.. She was probably off doing head stands.. or talking.. :)
It's interesting that both men and women sprint races were won on the Naish Maliko and not a flat water specific board.. I did like the look of that new Sprint that Connor was using in the distance race.

From what I saw of the livecast of the race, the water was pretty choppy with tons of boat wakes and reflected chop off the seawalls, which might have cancelled out any advantage the sprint would have had over the allstar. That and Annabelle is on another level of athleticism even compared to the other top female athletes.

Annabelle got her gear lost by the airlines. When she finally got them her board was damaged. She loaned the Starboard, so i don't think she had that many boards choices to choose from. All the top Starboard guys where on Sprints in the distance race. I raced the distance race in Denmark. I think 2/3 of the race was in very choppy messy conditions. A lot of boat wash and bounching back from the docks. Not an easy race. I was in trouble with a little bit too tippy board for me in those conditions. Behind the opera house it was completely flat.

In the sprints conditions where choppy also but not that bad as in the distance race. In the distance race Annabelle snapped her paddle blade. I think it was also damaged by the airlines. I think in the sprints it was more about the start and how well you could maintain top speed in the chop. If you got a bad start you might get cought in other competitioners wake easily.

100% agree with you Turtle! I raced long distance too and I swam a lot (6times) in those conditions (which got worse in the afternoon for men's race), but very good experience.

The other highly significant thing that you have to be aware of with these results (both the 200m sprint race as well as the long distance flat water race) is that they were competing on 12'6" boards, not 14'.
I don't think you can draw any conclusions about the 14' board you are most likely going to buy based on results in a 12'6" race. They are very different boards.

I watched most of the women's distance replay on YouTube. Answers most of my about Annabelle. Her Brian S. board got lost in transit. I
Also a bit of dis from Annabelle on a board she recently used. One of my favorite brands for sure, but Annabelle definitely did not like it.
