Title: Safety colors
Post by: burchas on June 10, 2017, 10:33:43 AM
I've recently received a "Hook Tribe" Spartan long sleeve shirt as a gift. I was very glad
to have yet another bright yellow safety shirt for my paddling activities.

https://hooktribe.com/collections/mens/products/larry-allison-leashes-save-lives-team-shirt

This color has been very effective for me on the heavily trafficked water I paddle in.
Of all the these long sleeve yellow shirt I own, this one has become my go to due to
its lightweight, moister wicking, quick to dry, spf 50 attributes.

For those paddles who also set en example to other, this shirt has phrase "Leashes Save Lives"
on its back which I thought is a nice touch working in tandem with the safety color.

I usually buy quality shirts like Bluesmiths, Zhik, Kokatat etc which usually cost twice
as much so I'm glad I was introduced to this brand and decided to buy few more with
other designs ( still yellow though).

I also managed to arrange my boat house a 25% group deal for Hook Tribe entire collection
and I thought it would be nice to share it for other Zoners to enjoy.

Hook Tribe currently have many items on sale so it's an opportunity for "double dipping" on some of the items.

Promo code is Ohana25% Enjoy!

I'm not affiliated with Hook Tribe in any way and outside of this shirt I got as a gift
(not from Hook Tribe though) I'm a paying customer as well but with a nice discount :))

The shirt in your photo, that is my favorite color for water related activities since it is easily seen from far away.

The cuffs look loose around the wrist.  I prefer a cuff that doesn't allow the sleeve to come down over my hand.
How does this shirt fit in this area?

Yes, it's loose. Never really thought about it since it's comfortable for me
but obviously a consideration for other.

Dude, I'll let you in on a secret. If you're trying to evaluate a color based on an image on
the web, you might as well be color blind ;) In reality that color is referred to as Neon Yellow.

I've never been drawn towards neon colors but a good friend of ours launch just as we drove up.  By the time we were ready to go he was a few miles away and I could still spot him with his neon orange.  I thought that was impressive so I got one.  I'm on the neon team now after all these years downwinding.

This is a good idea for paddling on inland lakes with motor boat activity...or, for anybody who particpates in watersport activities further out than you can swim...

In a strange tragic twist of irony...a windsurfer was just struck and killed by a life saving boat returning from a call...

Damn. And I thought I escaped wearing neon colors by wearing black (skiing) all through the eighties, and 90's.

Even Chartreuse has gone neon now.   :o

It's true on a DW you can only see buddies in the distance wearing the bright stuff.

I have been looking for all the same attributes (long sleeve T shirts, moisture wicking, spf 50) in neon Red...have you seen any in that color?

I usually wear a bright lime green or bright orange Longsleeve Teeshirt from "Reel Legend" sold at Bells on sale often for $20...they are SPF 30 I think...hold up really well...and not a lot of logo where you feel like a walking billboard for the brand....but still looking for neon red, which is a color they don't sell.

Anyone know of a source?

I'd like to see more 80s-style wetsuit with bright neon colors. Besides the fact that black is tough to see in safety situations, my wetsuit makes me look like a seal. Which is not great while Mr. White hangs about.

I will make sure to discuss colors in all of our safety meetings. Great idea.

Hands up anyone who actually knows what chartreuse is. [bofire looking it up that is]
Extra points for those who know what it tastes like.

Yes it's 25% off the 45 so 33.75. Also I just checked and they still have lots of items on sale  and this promo code
covers all their offering and you can apply the 25% on top of their sale price so some  items end up very affordable.
I just checked and the promo code is still active.

Sorry windwarrior...just saw your request...Reel legion Long sleeve tee shirts can be found here...not the most user friendly web site....hope admin doesn't mind...if it cross a line he will delete. Best to just go to your local Bells store if they have them where you live.

I got 2 for $18 on Amazon, in the bright orange.  When I first got them I was a bit put off by the way they fit and quality seemed to reflect the price.  But I've been wearing them all summer and grown to like them.  Not sure they'll ever wear out, but I'll get more if they do.

At $9 a piece I think it will be 5 years worth of supply in under a $100.
I can work with that :)

Safety colors are the reason I look like a mime. Well, that and a little white sunblock. I randomly select a shirt I got from some race which are always neon, and pair them with randomly selected boardshorts, which tend to be vehemently patterned. The result ranges from "not so bad" to seriously jarring. Add some compression socks in radical colors and presto--mime.

Hohoho......Christmas came early!

Fits perfectly! Cool sticker too! Need to decide if I should put it on my board or Jeep.

Something just came to mind. I wonder how many times I'll be referred to as Trojan Man? 😆
