An 8 foot juvenile Great White got stuck inside the reef at Pleasure Point this evening.
He (she) put up a good fight, but after an hour of getting beat against the cliff ended up on the beach.

Close up of the business end.

Sad ending for an apex fish predator.

Sad to see any 'innocent' go out prematurely. There are roughly 6 million chickens in our area who lives do not exceed 7 weeks. Semis full of cages on local roads headed to their Last Stop. It doesn't make and difference where you are on the food chain. Plan on doing something nice for yourself and those close to you....
I did hear of a Greenland shark that can live like-500yrs...if some longliner doesn't add it to their by-catch.

Shark Update:
Marine scientist and Shark Biologist, Bianca Bahman officially commented on last night's shark situation. "The shark did not recover. Arranging recovery and a formal lab necropsy at local UCSC or CDFW facility to determine causes. Speculations are that this shark, a 10 foot sub adult male white shark had stranded due to a Carnobacteroum Infection.
The shark ended up just below Privates Beach and was removed Saturday afternoon.

Kind of looks like me after my session last Sunday, but without the teeth.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, or in this case a great white shark, but here is one of the better pics of our shark enjoying spring break in Santa Cruz.
