Title: Who do you think would win this competition? Surf and SUP related.

Event 1. A 10 mile flat water paddle race.
Event 2. A series of 60 minute heats at 6' Hookipa on surf SUP.
Event 3. A series of 60 minute heats at 4' reeling Malibu, noseriding a classic Malibu noserider.
Event 4. A series of 60 minute heats at 8' barreling Pipeline. Not on a SUP.

The first name to pop into my head is Kai Lenny, though I've never seen him surf Pipe or Malibu. I wonder who else might rip in both sup and prone surfing. Maybe one of Doyle Schweitzer's grandkids. Maybe Robbie himself.

Post by: PonoBill on October 27, 2016, 03:56:08 PM: Both Connor and Kai would do well, Zane would rock in the surfing, Cody would do very well if his head was in it, as would Riggs and Berndt. And I wouldn't leave out Brendan Rose -- not quite as well known, but a fine surfer and great paddler.

Hmmm, those are all Maui guys. I'm obviously leaning on familiarity.

Are there any younger Makaha guys who are into surf and sup? I wonder who from California or Australia might do well. Maybe Tommy Carroll would win the thing, though I've never seen him ride a longboard. Kelly Slater might do well.

It's funny, if you add in kitesurfing and windsurfing, downwind and OC, and who knows what, the list doesn't change. These are watermen in the true sense. They do everything.
