Title: How to ship a board
Post by: JeffG on September 01, 2015, 05:56:22 PM
Have any of you ever shipped a carbon board?  I might sell one and there is not a big local market for sup boards.  How can I get a board packaged up properly to ship?  I assume if I insured it for the full price of the board I would be covered if something went bad.

The best way would be to see how the manf. ship them. At least a layer of cardboard over the board and tape an extra layer about 5 inches wide on the rails with a piece for the nose and tail. Then put it in a box and pray!

I bubble wrap the entire board - then tape EPS foam blocks to the nose and tail - then a layer of cardboard around the board (along the rails) - then a plastic bag over the entire thing and tape it all tight.
It then goes into a SUP board box - with EPS foam scraps along the rails.
That gets sealed and then another box gets wrapped around the first box and sealed with banding.

I do run a shop and have access to all this material (I actually recycle all the stuff from boards I un wrap and put in the store).

The key is the wrap it up as well as you can - and then double the amount of packaging.

Also key is the bribe the trucking company - donuts work well.
