I might be moving down there for a job at Carteret General Hospital, and I've only been there (to Salter Path) for vacations. Any input about living there will be very appreciated!

No. I'm still trying to get to the Outer Banks, though!

Lived in Beaufort (pronounced Bow- Fort vice Bew-Fert, South Carolina - think Paris Island Marine Corps) for 3 years while assigned from 1987-1990. Jacksonville and Cherry Point bases super close by...Wife and I loved Morehead and Beaufort - we lived in Beaufort. Wifey went to Carteret Community College and got a degree in photography while there. First born was born at Cherry Pt Marine Corps Air Station - top notch!
Hunting, fishing, surfing, and just nice peeps (once you are accepted). Dang, I've got sailfish and tuna within 500 yards of the beach given the Gulf Stream eddies come August!!! But JAAAAEEEEESSSSSSSUSSSS....is it hot in the summer! Take a shower and don't expect to dry off! August - Oct constant threat of tropical systems given geography.

Do you plan to move there or just visit? What part of the Outer Banks? I LOVE Ocracoke!

I had a great opportunity to move to Nag's Head last summer, but the timing of job and housing didn't line up. I'd still love to move to Manteo or anywhere on the Banks. It's a great place.
