The difference is your's will hit land and do damage. Ours, well, it will be sunny and warm. The lifeguards will be busy, like in 'Bay Watch'. I mean, we wouldn't want to mess up the Kardashian's hair. This is LA after all.....

It's not the size of the wave...
It's the size that Creek tells everyone it was.   ;)

You might want to re-think 1st for Thursday. Going to be a very tough paddle out there if the forecast holds.  Only saving grace is the longer period might give you the chance to get out (or place you in the impact zone for the cleaning lady). I'm likely to be at either Little Compton or Horseneck both early and late.

It is looking pretty juicy. 6'+ at 14 secs and 10 to 15 offshore. Should be some fun faces. I've been waiting to get this element into something bigger. Pumped!!! I'm packing that and the 8'er. I may just join you at 1st and enjoy the paddle out.. ::) always feels good when you get outside and there is only a handful of folks. If the size holds it will be breaking on that 2nd outside bar, should be some long rides.

It's date day and promised the wife a day at 1st. She likes to play frisbee and boogie board there. Good timing on my part. Most likely arrive by 10 and leave by 3.

Free... have her take up a new hobby tomorrow.... surf photographer  ;)

I am sitting at home with an ice pack on my knee all day today... I have had a lot of long, 3 to 5 hour sessions in a row, and yesterday after getting home, my knee felt "full" and is noticeably bigger than the left leg.

Opps... I've been on a longboard kick for the past month, and it requires a bit more effort to toss them around. I am actually considering riding a 10'6 in the big stuff.... it would be a blast... but I am sure my Prowave will be my goto for this swell. Now... if I can just get my knee to cooperate  ???

Creek ~ thats the plan. She is a phenomenal photographer. BUT, she will have to be fast if she is to catch me upright on the Cannibal  ;D.  Better take the AllWave with me too!! Heal up fast buddy. As we know, a good swell can't keep a good man down for long.

Stoney & PDL ~ looks like I will miss you guys - enjoy dawn patrol!!!

Fingers and toes crossed as its still looking perfect for tomorrow. Stoney your right I always forget that when it gets bigger at 1st it spreads out the crowd.

Not just spreads it out....some folks just won't make it out. I've fought for 45 mins to get out there before. This should be better though with 14 secs between waves. When its short period its just f'ing relentless.

Ha ha. Last September I had that experience on a similar day. Took me probably 20 minutes to get out on my AllWave and felt like a beast when I finally did. Far left, it was me and two proners that was it. Caught a few bombs but spent the better part of 3 hours getting hammered. So much fun!

Not sure I've surfed this week at 1st before. Are the guards going to attempt to herd us all into the surfing zone after 9am?? Hoping not!!

Free this is the last weekend for them so I would say they might try like hell to heard the 100 plus people into the "surf" zone, my hope is that they close the beach to swimming if it's as big as they are projecting due to rip tides and the idiots that will try to body surf or boogie board. So far this summer it's been at least until 10am until they start blowing whistles, I had words with a guard a few weeks ago when they had a lifeguard competition and decided to use the "surfing" area for their event and they gave a sliver of a spot to surf (there was also around 50 proners and 15 sups out that morning trying to squeeze a ride in that little spot). Also if the waves are at least 5' for bigger we can catch them further out and basically start off in the "surf" zone and just enjoy the long ride across the whole beach. By Monday no lifeguards and open beach all day/night.

and I'm all excited!

I skipped dawn patrol today, iced my knee, rested it, bought a knee brace, two bottles of Motrin, a bunch of Road Trip munchies... all gassed up and ready to launch... now, if my leg will handle the drops tomorrow, it's game on  ;D
