Title: SB Touring 14' x 29"

Has anybody tried the new Touring 14x29?
I have the 14x30 Wood and a friend of mine just bought the 12.6x29.
12.6 is just too short for me but the 29 wide feels great.
I have gut feeling that the 14x29 a should be a fantastic board.

Used the Jimmy Lewis Stiletto (14x27.75) - excellent for all-around touring, and even small downwind.
The Sabre was a bit quicker, and while I once packed it with plenty of heavy bags, I can attest that there are better suited boards out there for touring. A fine board that enabled me to easily do 60+km in two days (fully packed), but still not as "comfortable".
The Stiletto is only marginally wider, but so much more stable with its recessed deck and square tail. I can tour & take photos on the Stiletto - all day, day in / day out - under nearly any condition.

Good luck finding the "perfect" touring machine.

I do not really do touring but I enjoy a stable board to go in the open ocean.
If I had a lot of money I would have liked to look at getting a Stiletto and an M-14 but one man one board also works :-)

My first choice would be the 17'4 x 28 Ace from Starboard. I'd probably place a rudder system to better control direction with a side-wind.
Second choice: one of the many 2015 touring machines from SB. They actually look really cool.

Post by: Off-Shore on January 04, 2015, 03:15:49 AM: I just bought a SIC Bullet 14v1 TWC (http://www.sicmaui.com/bullet-14-0/BULL-14-T/detail) to replace my 3 year old SB Coast Runner 14' AST, which I use for long distance coastal touring. The Bullet is 27.25" but feels wider, and does everything well. In fact I raced it this past weekend and my time was not bad considering it is not a race board. It also downwinds fairly well too.
