Title: It's good to be home!!!
Post by: supthecreek on April 04, 2014, 06:38:31 AM
Just got back to Cape Cod after a few weeks down south (more on that in a later post)

I was welcomed back by a nice day of waves.
Nasty shore pound guarded the break.... on the way out and then....getting back in was much worse... it tried hard to kill me ;D

My friend Tom and I were out..... with 1 proner.... he was a good guy, but couldn't believe we were going out on SUP's in those conditions ;)......

He NEVER got a wave ....

But we did.... here are some shots....It's GOOD to be home ;D ;D

(Heard all up and down the Myrtle Beach surfzone):

"Sheesh, is that wavehog "Creek" guy finally gone home?..."   :-\
"Yeah -- maybe now the rest of us can start catching some waves again!!"   8)

Creek, it's not a real Southern roadtrip unless you:
...stopped at Pedro's South of the Border
...fell asleep at the wheel -- enough to keep driving
...dined at least once at a "Waffle House" or "Popeye's"
...grabbed at least a quart of bbq in North Carolina
...brought me back a Nascar t-shirt and some boiled peanuts)!!   ;)

Creekster, is that your replacement Naish from the 9'6?  Same thing but not AST?

Agreed. Beautiful waves. Love the pulled-back shot of the lineup. I had some great times surfing on the Cape in the earlyish '80s -- this brings it right back. Thanks!

Wow. Now I understand why Linter's standards are so high  ;D. He needs to stay home all winter  ;D

Thanks guys.... everyone else chased it the day before and got skunked while I went paddling.
Yesterday, I figured there was a window at dawn, before the wind switch.... and scored a nice empty session ;D

kaya.... not my board.... I had a warentee issue and Naish sent me a new board... Bob at Matunuck Surf Shop gave me a loner till the new one comes.
Also....since Naish sent a new 2013 Mana... I left it in the box and used it to upgrade to a 2014 model, by adding cash and my new replacement board... Bob ordered an 8'10 and a 9'5 for me... cuz I don't know which to get.... I'll look them over and pick one. I want both :-[
also, in case anyone is curious.... I prefer the AST mana to the wood version.... I like the look a LOT more, and I have not notice any difference surfing or paddling them.

DW... you are correct... linterland is a hard act to follow.... but it's cold and nasty during wave season..... tradeoffs.

Spook.... none of the above.... but I took a picture for you ;)

the shorebreak broke most of the GoPro mounts... I needed a hammer to get the "click in" part to release... I need to replace BOTH the mount and the camera housing.  (see my picture below)....worth noting.... the GoPro stick-on mount (on the board) showed no sign of popping off... GOOD glue!

Nice shots! The more I look at ur CC pics, the more I wanna hit it! Can't be that much farther up the road from Point Judith. Judith takes me 5 hrs on a good day.

I can see why you get lots of broken boards there....shorebreak looks vicious!

You get sand jammed everywhere with that kind of pound. I usually just try to body surf and stay clear of my board on pounder shore breaks like that. Dig your hands and feet in so you don't get sucked back. The board is on it's own.
