Title: Paddle for the Bays Race Cape Cod September 22, 2012
Post by: Weed on August 24, 2012, 05:01:00 PM
Ok, I just signed up for my first race to benefit Three Bays Preservation of the Town of Barnstable, MA. Sept. 22, 2012 on beautiful Cape Cod. It's basically a 5 mile race around Oyster Harbor although there will be a "elite" 10 mile race twice around Oyster Harbor.

Hope some local zoners can make this race. For more information click here: www.3bays.org (http://www.3bays.org)

They were talking about that. Next year they will coordinate different dates maybe a week after the Late Summah Paddle. The water will still be warmish on the sound side. I will have Amy who runs the paddle division get with either you or whoever is running that race to coordinate the dates for next year. We need something on the Cape in the fall.

Given the timing of the two events (10:30a and 2pm), you could possibly do both.  Might have to wear your CCBC costume to the early event though :)

Not necessary...one of the things both Mike and I regret somewhat is how tough it is to get to talk to everyone now that the CCBC has grown so big. This year was especially tough...the late arrival compressed the schedule something crazy.

Good to hear from ya ROBB look forward to seeing you. I will be in the "old fart" division using a copper/bamboo colored 11'6" Surftech Universal which I love. It's not the fastest board but man is it comfy for my height and weight. I have done the island loop about 12 times still have to stop a few times and rest the feet for a minute or so. So look for me in the back of the pack  :) Hey, I'm not built for racing but it's for a good cause that's why I am doing it. That, and just being out on the water.

Conditions are looking great for this Saturday's Paddle for the Bays Race at Ropes Beach in Cotuit. Perfect forecast, SW 7 mph, air temp in the 70's, water bathtub warm, still in swim shorts. Who's going to break the 1 hour loop barrier? Cyclops? Kim? Someone else? Stay tuned.

Wish I could have made it sounded like it was a lot of fun. Need to coordinate dates next year. Kim Reilly came to the Late Summer Paddle after the race. So stoked for her to take 1st. She has really come on hard core. Great lady too.

Yes, Kim's hard work is paying off and always smiling too. I told her it's time to get sponsored. You're welcome anytime to come over and paddle the island loop with us and bring Susan too, she would love the scenery. You could meet Amy and talk about coordinating dates.
