I know that many of you have probably already seen Hawaii: Message in the Waves. I thought the film was very well done so today I decided to show it to my grade 6/7 class (ages 11/12). They loved it.
The way the film was structured in a way that children could easily relate to: 1) the concept of live life like you are in a canoe; 2) it gradually works up to shocking images of dirty beaches and dead birds full of plastic; 3) then wraps up reminding us about life in a canoe and what we can all do. When I asked at the end if anyone had any questions, one girl spoke up and said, "No, the message was very clear."
The film is available as a torrent file off the www.messageinthewaves.com site in case anyone is interested. Now I just wish I could get Jack Johnson to visit our class. :)
Thanks for the link Princess. The more research I do for the 7P's event this summer the more concerned I get.

We all need to start thinking differently.
