Title: Just started
Post by: patfly on July 27, 2007, 02:52:23 PM
Hi All, I have been paddling for 2 days now and lurking for 3 - 4 days. I am vacationing on Maui and while paddling my kayak, I saw 3 stand up paddlers the other day. They gave me some tips and shared their stoke.
I rented a 11'x28" Jimmy Lewis baord from Hawaiian Island Surf and Sport.
I have learned a few things. 1) Turning to catch a wave is not easy. 2) Don't bother to try it in slight cap or white cap winds (as a new person). 3) It is very fun and I may have to bring this sport back home to the S.F. D bay area.

Watch out, this sport is contagious and once you get it, it's like buying luggage- you're stuck with it (but that's a good thing!).
