Let me start this by saying that I have no backround in shaping. I have been messing around on the Aku Shaper program and am wondering about volume. I know the approximate dimentions of say a "ripper" type board, or a more longboard style board, but what volume should I be looking for to float me? I am 5'11'' 180lbs.
Thanks, Southbay
For reference- I'm 235lbs and my board is 132 liters... it floats me with the deck about an inch above water... not a long distance paddling board- I could do 3 miles on it no problem... but it surfs really well. Good luck!
So for a progressive surf type board I should figure every pound at least 1.75 liters. Good to know, thanks paddlesurf!
Oops, I meant .56 litres.
A Laird 12 footer is 225 liters as a reference, and its a barge so I would think about 150-175 liters would be a good place to start for a beginner all around cruiser for 185 pounder and that would foat you very well. 132 liter for a 235 pounder is way small, but Ashley has the balance of a cat on a fence:)
How do you figure out the volume of a board?
