Title: buying decision, jp racair
Post by: harryhibiscus on May 24, 2016, 10:17:52 PM

Hi to everyone, maybe you can help me about the decision of buying an used jp racair 12.6.  As my red paddle explorer is slowing me down, i am looking into a board with more raceability.  There are two boards avaible at a good price, a focus freedom 30" wide, that looks a lot like a naish one or a jp racair 25"wide.  My weight is at 180lbs, skills intermediate and i just want to use the board on flatwater like small lakes or innercity channels.  Do you got any suggestions, especially if there is a big difference in speed between these two?  I was searching for reviews of the jp racair, but couldnt find any, maybe you can post me a link or tell me about your experience.

I haven't paddled either of the boards you are looking at, but there is a HUGE difference between a 25" wide board and a 30" wide one. Both in good ways (speed, ease of getting a technically good stroke), and bad (stability, fatigue, versatility). If you've never paddled a 25" wide iSUP before, I'd suggest trying before buying.

Thank you for the answer . As i am aware of the problems of a narrower board, like you mentioned, stability and versatility, i am looking for a fast board as a second isup. To try it out first, is a good idea, but it is not located at my place, so this wont be possible. Maybe they got an naish javelin at the local sup rent Center, so i can paddle a more race oriented board there. Because i havent still got an  idea of the difference in Speed between a 30inch and a 25 Inch board. is there any comparison Review, between for example an naish one and another race isup?

You'll find 25" quite a big step down from 32". You'll even feel the step to 30". You know Red Paddle Co, you may want to look at the 12'6" Sport or 12'6" Race.
