Hi Everyone,
Up until now my daughter has ridden on the edge of my board while occasionally "paddling" with my wife's carbon quickblade while I am on the board as well. She wants to paddle more on her own, which is rad, but I am not sure what kind of paddle to get her. I have looked at 30 canoe paddles up to 150 adjustable kids carbon paddles. I would rather get something that she will love and will last for a while, maybe even until her brother can paddle too, but I thought I would see if anyone else had some ideas. She will probably paddle on the same board with me a fair amount this summer, but may venture to her own board too. We will see.
Thanks
Bret
I got my daughter (now 11) but 9 when purchased a QuickBlade Flyweight Adjustible which I custom ordered so she could use it as she grew (and so far so good, she also uses it shorter for surf and longer for racing).
Being 6 and lots of growth spurts ahead, you could most likely do the same paddle and custom order it even shorter for her and maybe it would also work for your son at its longest length.
We have a simple Red Paddle Co adjustable 130-170cm paddle: http://greenwatersports.com/shop/red-paddle-co-kiddy-adjustable-130-170cm. Also in a 3 piece version, but not listed on the site yet (will be soon).
I have a naish keiko adjustable. Really good.you need a small blade for the youngsters
I have Blue Planet 3-piece carbon fiber - I've been able to assemble it without the center section -- when kneeling it's like a canoe paddle. So it's "both" a short and full length paddle.
