I just moved to Temecula and have been going to San O alot lately but I want to start doing some distance paddling and was looking for some people that are interested some early morning ocean sessions.
You might try paddling out of Baby Beach in Dana Point and just meet up with some of the distance paddlers there. Always people going out down the coast or around the buoys.
I assume you are coming over 74 to the 5 south. Second exit is PCH to the Dana Point Harbor. Baby Beach is at the end of the harbor.
Have fun, Jill
Tony,
I live in your area (Murrieta) and surf Oside a bunch. While I don't do distance I see peeps doing distance work all the time from the pier to the harbor. Just sayin.
Be careful how far south you go. Marines at Pendleton can and do use real bullets. ;D
If your a connoisseur of beverages made from the fruit of the vine, I might suggest the Leoness Cellars Winery. Delicious. Your fair city is on schedule to have no fewer than 100 active wineries in the next year or so. Grats.
Can one sup on Elsinore?
I wanna know about Elsinore too. I go down to visit my in-laws and am planning to sneak over to O-side for a surf some weekend but it'd be fun to hit the lake with the family too.
Lake Skinner (http://www.rivcoparks.org/parks/lake-skinner/lake-skinner-home/) is closer, and possibly another paddle option. Might have to meet the CG regs as a vessel (PFD, whistle, whatever....), but other than that, you should be OK......

Yes. is nice in the summer. I recommend going before the afternoon wind comes up.
I was out there last week and enjoyed Wilson Creek and the Stone Brewery. No paddling though.
