Title: SUP Longboard
Post by: AndiHL on April 16, 2024, 12:40:25 AM
Hi,

I'm looking for a SUP longboard that behaves as much as possible like a normal surf longboard.

My specifications would be
- 9 to 9'6 max
- 2+1 and Quad fin setup possible
- thin rails
- available in Europe
- for a 88 kg,  intermediate surfer

Board I discovered so far:
Jimmy Lewis Destroyer HP, but in 9'0 I'm afraid that it has a bit too little volume (120l)
Sunova Revolutio Casey, would need at least one modifications for quad setup

Any other suggestions?

Cheers
Andreas

I really do like the looks of those new JL Destroyer HP’s
Although you said 9.6 max, that  wide 10’ Destroyer HP 145L looks sweet!
Other potentials might be
Kalama 9’2 longboard shape
Bill Foote boards
Blue Planet’s boards are worth a look and most likely will ship to Europe.

Hey Andreas, look at Starboard's Longboard SUP, the Fanatic Stylemaster, the Infinity New Deal (not sure about Eurpoe on Infinity), and Gong.   Your quad requirement will be a sticking point.  You'll probably find no need for a quad on a longboard though.

I had a Starboard Longboard SUP - comes in a variety of sizes. Closest to your interest is  9’5″ x 30″ / 124L

https://sup.star-board.com/paddle-board/hard-paddle-board/longboard-sup/

I had a 10' x 29" / 123 L.  I see this year they's bumped up the volume on that to 133.  It is very much a longboard experience.  Very nice thin rails.

Sunova could make the Revolution as a quad for you. BTW, why a quad on a longboard?

BTW, Sunova can modify any of their boards for you. For example chande the width plus or minus, add or subtract volume.

I just ordered the Revolution. 9'x28" 115l with 5 futures fin boxes. Vapor construction. Won't see it for a few months but hoping its a perfect upgrade coming from my 9'2"x30" 126l kalama. The kalamas come as quad plus 1 setups (mine was 5 fcs 2 boxes) and I hated that board as a thruster, but as a quad, I've loved it and insisted in having quads moving forward.

Kalama quad fin placement is more like a split thruster.

Thanks for all the worthy replies!

Kalama 9'2 and a customized Revolution now are in the pole position.
