I'm going to make the plunge and order one of Corran's Rapidfires.  Any suggestions for leash length and style?  Looks like a quick release vest is essential.

Crow Haley makes a leash that wraps around your waist.  Like a huge ankle strap.  I've been using that and it works great.  It's easy to tear off if you need to.

I had surf more out of San Clemente make me some custom hand tied beffy 10' coil leashes. Been working great and I have a few extra I can kick your way for what I paid for them.

I recommend using a quick release integrated with a rescue PFD. I would worry about a leash waist attachment, which could be hard to release if was rotated around your body during an entrapment. Rescue PFD quick release systems are designed to be released under pressure during an entrapment.

But I'm not familiar with the systems described above, so maybe they are designed to be released under an entrapment.

I guess I should have been more clear. Mine all have a railsaver on both sides, one to go to the steel ring on the quick release on the back of my rescue pfd and the other to the board. I'll try to snag some pics at some point in time.

I feel like no leash is safe on the river. Best wishes
