I have not posted for some time and thought I would share where I am going with SUP. I would really like to see where others are going with it...

The pic is of me riding my custom 6'11" microSUP prototype shaped by Jorge Mora of Sick Surfboards (the board is really freaking small - but really freaking fun in semi glass to glassy conditions):

John,

You are not allowed to do that... to post a pic of a very nice cuttie, on a tantalizingly small SUP, and not tell us dimensions, fin configuration, thickness, material, etc.  I will forgive you if you quickly remedy your error.

I have spent the winter trying to figure out an 8'5" diamond tail quad with tons of rocker and very, very thin tail.  I love, love, love it.  My friends tease me because it covers my feet when paddling, and when balancing I have been known to sink it to my knees.  I can ride it in pretty much any conditions now (after three months of adjusting) but in micro waves, I prefer my big cruiser (9'5").  The white one with the orange lines.

Even surfed the 8'5" at a super soft spot with Sparky last weekend... and once I could get one, it freaking flew.

Working on any specific moves on your super shorty?  Really interesting nose rocker... what is the tail rocker like?  Super flat bottom or vee... or ??? CONCAVE ???

I am really concentrating on trying to square up more and use my thighs to really THROW the board up on the lip better... like when I was a kid riding my first thruster.  Also trying really hard to open the hips and keep my body loose on the backhand...

Ignore the duct tape... it is all better now.

If you had not said so, it would be hard to believe that pic is from someone on a SUP board...can't even see the paddle! :-)

Tim,

Dude that is a dude.  Quickly remedy your error.  I think that is a picture of John on his board, no?

Strand Leper

That was "CUTTIE," not "CUTIE" ...

Not that there would be ANYTHING wrong with referring to John as "cutie" ... but I am NOT going to go there!

Hey Jon E.B
how wide and thick is that board, and how much you weigh?
what do you ride when it is less than ideal for the that size?.

Carrying a bit o winter fat at 155lb - fighting weight is 150lb.

The epoxy microSUP is 6'11" x 28 1/2" x 4 1/8" and has a single "speed channel" (that is what Jorge calls it) running down the entire center. Including the center box, it has 7 fin boxes, allowing for a wide variety of configurations. The board is quite challenging to balance on, but, when on the wave, it more than makes up for it. I figure I can throw out the unicycle and Indo board. Core workout? The term now makes me laugh - I got your core workout!

If conditions get too choppy, I break out my big board - the 7'11" Island shortSUP (2nd pic)

Jon, your boards are SWEET!!  So want to try them.  Need to come up our way more so we can check them out.  Very cool!

Thanks, Moto!
I might get up there early in the week - if I do, I will look you up!
