Its funny how this thread comes about. Ever since I been trying a new wider blade I found the Tahitian technique to be the most efficient stroke there is. In this article as Dave mentions it is something to really practice to get it down.  I found that once you have the strong points down you really get moving without having to resort to that high heart rate quick short bursts. So I found it more practical to Practice the Tahitian stroke and trying to create more power in each stroke versus a sprint stroke. Ekolu kind of explains the same theory.
