I have a lot of undeveloped SUP skills but foremost among them is use of the paddle for other things besides paddling: leaning on it for stability, using it as a pivot point, knowing when to have the blade on the wave side and when to have it on the outside and what best to do with it in both instances.  i haven't read much about this either, so if anyone has any tips and thoughts, feel free to share em!

in the meantime, on two of the great SUP blogs out there, i did stumble across two relevant posts:

http://srfnff.blogspot.com/2007/11/learning-to-sup-part-three.html .  it's entitled paddle management strategies and stuff; and it pretty great.

this one, from standuppaddlesurf.net, is a video review of the angulo 11-9 board but about halfway through there's a minute or two of paddle pivot use talk.  it takes place inside the Tropical Blends shop and is a fun instructive watch anyway.

   check em out!

Thanks for posting those links. I had seen them, but hadn't realized their value when I first saw them. I am just moving from survival mode (wow I can stand up) to developing some skill and style.
It's all good!

Tom English's post in the Sessions Category had a video clip and the second half shows some great examples of effective paddle use on the wave. (November South Swell in North San Diego
