In Noa's thread of best downwind locations the idea came up of a worldwide database of locations. I added it in that thread but figured some folks might miss it there. Anyone can be part of this and add locations...just let me know if you want to be in and I'll add you to the list.

Here's the thread from that post:

Google maps allows for easy creation of routes and collaboration amongst anyone on the email list. I just created the Worldwide Standup Downwind Map...if you would like to collaborate PM me your email address. once you are a collaborator you can add anyone else's email to the list.

Some of the cool stuff...adding links to videos..embedding photos of the route. If you click the route of the provincetown to plymouth downwinder I added you'll see what coming in to Plymouth would be like...

Hi Stoneaxe,
i'm happy the thread promted you to create the database. very good initiative and i'll be sure to add some interesting runs to it.

Actually...I should change this...its not actually an email list. I just need your emails to send you the ability to collaborate...you won't be on any email list.

Nice work guys. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Come on Jeremy...add some runs in there...no fair putting in your times...they would be meaningless to us mortals... ;)

Collaborators are slowly being added. Lots more of the globe to cover though. Come on in...the waters fine... ;)

Aright, I threw up a couple of runs we do regularly here in Antigua.  We actually have more routes but they depend on less typical conditions.  To prevent cluttering the map I have not included them.

Since we discovered our South Shore run just over a year ago we have become total down wind addicts.  I woulda never thought.....as my original intention with SUP was just to surf.  Now its a close call as to which I love more!

Untill you have experienced a 200 yard plus ride with spray flying in your face; and hooting so hard you cant breathe......only a down winder knows the feeling.....DO IT!

I know, kind of sick, huh. What a sport. I feel bad for surfers that simply see SUP as an intrusion into the lineup. they have no idea what they're missing. I love fishing and exploring on mine too.

Amazing as it sounds I'm actually jonesing more for a downwinder than I am for surf right now. The south side runs on Maui were such a tease. They let me know what I'm missing. Now I NEED a board and a partner to hook up with for runs here at home. Can't happen fast enough.
