Some pics from the Columbia and Slocan River. Paddling with the Sturgeon right before the high water, and high water paddling from the weekend on a slow stretch of the Slocan River that opens up more paddling routes right now.

Beautiful place.  Those sturgeons are sizable.  Good eating?  Thanks for the pics.

Great pictures. And seeing the sturgeon was an added bonus.

I would say the last pic the sturgeon was around 8 feet+ or so. The bigger ones were quite skittish and it was harder to get close to them before they would move to deeper waters. I was actually watching them feed which was cool. I've seen bigger a bit further downstream that had much more girth and probably in the 10 foot+ range.

No fishing allowed for sturgeon in Castlegar and area. I've never tried one for eating yet.

Did anyone else at first think this post was about Rick or the "creek" board?  I did.  Love these beautiful pics though.

I've gone full creek mode, and yes, I was inspired by Creek's older photos for starting this thread. Feel free to add photos if any of you have been doing some river and creek exploring.

These shots from last night are from the columbia river/pass creek waterways.

Nice shots guys. I would like to try the Sunnova 14' for backwoods creeking and down winding and exploring all of those marshland waterways would be awesome.. I like the look of that waterway in Alaska. You two are all smiles and all those routes would be fun to explore.

This is my latest outing to two small lakes called upper and lower, Little Slocan lakes, connected by the little Slocan River, which is more like a creek than a river. One of my favourite trips so far as I had never explored both of these lakes and I'm going to go back and float further downstream one day.

Great photos, and a cute dog, too!

Right on, robon! Looks gorgeous. I hafta admit my desire to flat water paddle is not so strong. But I've been making myself do it regardless to stay fit. maybe because I don't own a proper flat water board. I just paddle my 9'11" Ripper. But I have paddled a Rivie Voyager a few times and that makes flat water much more enjoyable.
This was a beautiful paddle I did on the day of the summer solstice. All the way out to the beach fill dredge subline pipe off my local.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Amazing pics. I really enjoyed those sturgeon. We have them in the Hudson, but I only saw one jump once. Those things are prehistoric beasties, like living fossils.
