Larry Cain looks like a stunt man for Game of Thrones.

Article ended quite well I thought:

At the end of the day, though, Larry Cain says that for most paddlers it really doesn't matter who wins.

"The essential thing about sport is you go out and participate and you enjoy it," Cain says.

"You don't need rules and you don't need people telling you what to do. You drive your board down to the water, take it off the car, drop it in the water and go for a paddle."

I   find  it  hypocritical  that  surfing  wanted  no association  with  sup, but now they  want  all in on regulating  the  Olympics .  And they've  never  been  to  the  Olympics

I actually think it's more akin to curling.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Except that in Olympic curling the loser has to buy the beer after the match. Not sure there's that same level of awesome in SUP.

Larry Cain has it right, as usual. Growth in the sport is from people who will largely do it at the basic, fun, useful level and ignore serious racing and training. True as it always is for sports that are basically fun.

Yeah, if I had a vote, I would go with the canoe association, mostly because the surfing association has been so nasty towards SUP.  It would be poetic for them to lose out for that reason.

This may truly be an unsolvable issue and kill any chances for it to be an Olympic sport, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Sounds like there will be an answer soon.  But in the end this is what really matters most to us.  ;D

Money money money.

I got no horse in that game. That said my vote goes for ISA.

Coz Fernando can put out way better calendars than ICF ever would or could (not that I’ve ever seen an ICF calendar but).
Hint: Fernando of ISA used to run Reef. ‘Nuf sed.

And, yes. Sparky and Gerry for IOC presidents. That would be really cool. (with Fernando responsible for IOC calendars).
