Naish Nalu 11' or Naish Quest 10'8
« on: April 24, 2017, 05:32:24 AM »
I have not had a chance to ride the Quest yet, but wondering how these 2 boards compare to each other?  I can get a really good deal on a 2016 Nalu GTW, but still hesitating as I want to get some input on the Quest.

Riv,

The Quest is nice and stable tracks great but IMHO limited in its appilcations very specific to easy paddling

lastly the Naish GTW (2016) construction had (on certain boards) weight and durability issuse but the Nalu shape is a good all around design

I've personally paddled the 11' on flat water.  It was sluggish compared to the 11'4 Nalu, side by side. DJ and others say the 11' surfs very well however.

The 10'8 is based on the well loved 10'6 Nalu, so should in theory surf very well. There's was  a lot of initial interest in the Quest 10'8" on Seabreeze.... how it compared to the 10'6". You might check there and see if any conclusions.

As between Quests, a Naish dealer told me he didn't stock the less expensive "S" version of the Quests, for (his) perception of quality issues. He didn't describe any actual quality problems manifesting. He just didn't like the feel. He described there being a seam around the board, like BIC boards. I don't know if that's true, but you might nail down what the differences are...

I know both of these boards and the new 10'8" Quest is a better all round flat water and surfing board ( it actually surfs very well).. and it would be hard to choose the best one for surfing only.. (probably the Nalu).. but imo the Quest paddles flat water better.. It feels like a slightly bigger version of the 10'6" Nalu and the 11' Nalu feels very different being thinner and more rocker though the whole board.

Thank you for the information. Since I am looking for an all around board I will probably go with the Quest.

Was hoping to ride a Quest on my latest trip to the Carolinas. May just purchase one without trying.
