Since we're now talking paddles, I had a little "heart to heart" talk with my OS when he removed my seven metal staples from my right shoulder on 4-11-17. Like me, he's an outdoors person too since one of his hobbies is archery and he also does bowhunting.

We discussed paddle blade square inches. He told me since I'm right handed, when he removed my bone spur from my left shoulder 15 years ago, the Werner 85 Trance was a good fit for me. But, since he removed the bone spur from my right shoulder and repaired my right rotator (which was cut 90% through), he suggested dropping down in blade size to something in the 74-78 square inch size because I'm right handed and my right rotator has just been repaired. He thinks the smaller square inch blade size would be better for me since a rotator takes about a year to heal and he knows I'm dying to get back on my sup ASAP.

So I've been seriously looking at the Ka Nalu adjustable 74 xTuf paddle and also at the Starboard Enduro adjustable 73.6 in the Skinny shaft for my small hands and these two models are the ones I keep coming back to research wise.

@Badger

I'm still going with my 30" width choice. I've found quite a few videos for the "old" pre-2017 model Starboard Drive (10'x30") and the guys paddling it definitely weigh more than me since I'm at 147 pound right now. I'm skinny so I don't make a large footprint on a sup.  ;) Besides, I think a 10'x30" sup will make an excellent sup for leisurely flat water cruising.

I think the 2017 Starboard Drive is 10'x31". I can't confirm the 2017 width since Starboard's website has some very slow servers and at times it times me out on all three of my browsers (Pale Moon, SeaMonkey, Firefox) where I can't get to the Starboard site sometimes and I just tried to get to the Starboard site just now with another tab open and I get timed out.

The 2017 Drive is 31".

The site works okay for me.

http://star-board-sup.com/2017/board/10-5-x-31-drive/

10' x 30" should be plenty stable enough.

Oops.  :-[  I missed this in one of my previous posts for today.

I'm sticking with my choice of 10'6"x30". I made a typo with the wrong 10'x30" size.

WD,

The pseudo video with Al on the Hammer is the best one you have made.  The others with head cam do not show the board in action and there seem to be oodles of them; giving the illusion of being there, but not allowing much appreciation for the action.

Bene sug:  more videos of Al and buds showing what the boards can do, videos from the beach, from the air, from the pier, from a boat, from soloshot, but no more needed from the head cam.

BTW, amazed by how glassy are the waves in all the videos--makes it pretty easy.

Aloha Bill,
I think it's good to have different points of view...so, the video references for NW were more from an immersive paddling perspective than surfing...

In addition to flat water paddling pics and vids, I do have 100's of high quality action shots of the Hammer being surfed by various folks of all sizes and abilities...from knee high to DOH on the Hammer page on my website which helps to showcase the attributes that make the Hammer such a great all around...all waters SUP...let alone the WindSUP and foil fun that one can have with it...

http://supsports.com/standup-paddle-boards/hammer-series/

Here is a gallery with a portion of that action...nothing but Hammer surfing by a dozen different paddle surfers...

non headcam videos get my vote, e.g., from the beach, air, pier ... to see what the board can do
headcam videos nice once in a while as you say, to be the rider
pics help a bit, esp. when in sports sequence mode, somewhat like a video

pretty easy to do these days

Aloha Bill,
Here you go...a couple of tripod sequences shot from land of these boards...

The 10'3" Mahalo...short clip...

https://youtu.be/RV4lqXmkkKc

...and, here's a SUP adventure in the Baja that highlights the 9'5" Hammer...

https://youtu.be/t_yS4pbc5C8

I have 110 public You Tube videos on my channel...so, I have spent time getting footage and editing...

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHyJpW38NxPv3xKPwjiiHOg

Some of them have 2 or 3 different camera angles...

https://youtu.be/hRPKaGfWc0g

https://youtu.be/eY0CVCSmKYY

Sure it's easy enough to do...but, for me, dedicating time in the editing bay is generally the issue...oh, and getting good waves with nobody around...;-)

I love to create content...and, have cameras up the wazoo...Mavic drone...SoloShot...several GoPros...several JVC ADIXXION...4K Sony...a couple of waterproof Olys...high end Canon camera bodies with expensive "L" glass...etc...etc...so, I have hard drives full of content waiting for me...;-)

From watching many videos, my favorites are the ones being shot from drones. I can see so much detail in these videos depending on what I'm looking for when doing research on sups.
Blue Planet Duke: 10'5" x 32" x 4.5" @ 190 Liters (2 Dukes)
Sup Sports Hammer: 8'11" x 31" x 4" @ 140 Liters
SUP Sports One World: 11'1" x 30" x 4.5" @ 173 Liters
CJ Nelson Parallax: 9'3" x 23 1/2" x 3 3/16" @ 78.8 Liters (prone surfing longboard; Thunderbolt Technologies build in Red construction)

Aloha NW,
I'm hoping to get the opportunity to film some SUP action with my Mavic drone...

Dunno if you've seen this vid from a friend's drone of a custom 10'3" Mahalo?

I've seen this video quite a few times during the early spring of 2016 when I was narrowing my choice of boards while looking at the different models of your boards on your website. As as you know, based on my water conditions which "mostly" occur on the upper Texas coast, which we discussed via telephone, I settled on the 8'11" Hammer.

Blue Planet Duke: 10'5" x 32" x 4.5" @ 190 Liters (2 Dukes)
Sup Sports Hammer: 8'11" x 31" x 4" @ 140 Liters

Aloha NW,
Not a drone vid...but, it does feature a close relative to your 8'11" Hammer...;-)
Hope you are feeling mo bettah...and, you are making progress with the recovery...

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

@WarDog

I'm always in the mood, but unfortunately, my right shoulder is not in the mood.  :(  Just got done with my first 90 minute Friday PT session at my home. Enjoying a nice 15 minute ice pack on the right shoulder at the moment. But watching any video on sup, shot or not shot from a drone, is "always" a good feeling for me......especially after a PT work out.  ;)

Nice video of the 8'11" WD. And I really like the seafoam green color of the WD too since the color of it is the same as my 8'11" Hammer.  ;D

Aloha Night Wing,
That seafoam green 8'11" Hammer in "S glass" construction is still in our demo/rental fleet and is going on it's 5th year...

Here's another new 4K sports mode sequence clip with Big Will  putting his 9'5" x 33" Hammer SUP through some paces at a California point break...
Pretty cool to watch such a big guy surf this board so smoothly and confidently at full throttle...even catching back up to the face after getting passed by...

I'm further up the point on my rasta 8'11" Hammer that I ended up selling to an ex-pro surfer down in Central America...

If my memory serves me correctly, Big Will is really big at 6'5" tall and 250 pounds. He surfs his 9'5"x33" Hammer very well.
