That's just it, I didn't really see any questions posed, just the same old tired rhetoric.
I'm asking why Trump supporters are still banging on about the past rather than discussing future options. That's the question. Maybe I'm just not seeing such material since I don't frequent alt-right websites very often. If you could point me to Trump-supporting sources that are discussing positive options for the future, I'd be glad to read it. And then maybe you'd have a convert to your cause.

Remember, what we see in the media in Europe is very different to what you see. The BBC for instance is required always to maintain balance, so it often falls over itself to present several sides to an argument. The kinds of rabid one-sided rants you get on some of your news channels are not common here, outside of comedy programmes. So I will probably be seeing things from a slightly different perspective, and may need educating about what you see, read and hear in the US.

I guess that Trump will have pleased you yesterday though, because at the NATO summit he pointedly did not state his support for Article 5 (that each member will help defend another if attacked), but did berate the other countries for spending too little on defence (in his view). (The UK I think is one of the few who has spent enough as agreed, btw.)

PonoBill

The media here is insane these days. Nothing about the NATO talks, but screaming from the rooftops about Trump pushing his way to the front of a pack of suits. You're carrying coal to Newcastle A10, here you will see 100 hours of detailed analysis of Melania not taking Donald's hand. Those, quite literally, are the two top political stories in the USA right now.

Hmm...ok I can see why that would be tiresome.

It's been a nice change here for the media to have positive -or at least neutral - things to say about Trump over the last week or so. The discussion has been mostly about the content of his speeches and not about trivia. Maybe the rash of terrorist attacks in Europe recently is focussing our minds on the more substantial issues, and the solution if it comes will do so from co-ordinated activity across many allies so everyone is trying hard not to fall out with each other (hence no doubt the swift and unequivocal apology from the US security services about the Manchester leak).

It looks like there's a pretty serious hunt going on for the leaker. Whoever it is might have got a little payday for the pictures, but if they find them, it will be their last.

No need to worry about that (more fake news), because they all are now days.  But I looked it up just to make sure, and I was correct.

"There are three major types of submarines in the United States Navy: ballistic missile submarines, attack submarines and cruise missile submarines. In the U.S. Navy, all combatant submarines are nuclear-powered. Ballistic subs have a single, strategic mission: carrying nuclear submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Attack submarines have several tactical missions, including sinking ships and subs, launching cruise missiles, and gathering intelligence."

It takes a quiver to do that.

I can do that too. All of them. Pretty sure that's common knowledge. There aren't any diesel boats in the USN. I helped take all the good stuff off one of the last remaining ones--I think it was called the USS Guavina or something. It was an attack sub converted to a tanker for refeuling seaplanes. I was on board the Diamond, a torpedo retriever, when it got towed out and used as a target. Not sure what sub got it first, I think Cubera got the first shot--another diesel boat, but then there were three fish in the water and we didn't retrieve any of them. I think USS Scorpion (yeah, that Scorpion, I had some acquaintances on board when it disappeared, not close friends but I had a beer with some of them a few times) backed up the Cubera and shot two MK16's at it because they didn't want to be left out of the fun. Boom, right in the middle and it started to lift, BOOM and it split in two pieces, BOOM and both pieces flipped over and were gone.  A little oil slick and some floaties were all that was left when we passed over the spot less than ten minutes after the first shot.

Saw a lot of cool shit on the Diamond. I was officially on the USS Orion, AS-18 waiting for Nuclear Power School, but was TDY to the TWR-1 Diamond because their nerd (ET Radar) got sick and I was a third wheel on the Orion.

I only know of two kinds of US submarines. Fast attacks and boomers (FBM). Things might have changed since 1972.

Tom, I need to tell you something. Some of the stuff you read on Facebook isn't true. I know, it's shocking. But I'm afraid it's so. The guy's a dick, we get it. But there are people making stuff up all the time, and taking things that aren't very meaningful and turning them into very exciting, but not very relevant stories. They do this for money. I know, I feel hurt by it too, but we just need to soldier on and go surfing.

I wasn't asking about what he's done. I was asking why you aren't looking to the future and the present instead of banging on about past events. If you had read my posts correctly then you'd have seen that. But I guess that you are permanently stuck in some kind of backwards-looking attentional mode. Are you the kind of guy who when out with friends is always just reminiscing about the glory days rather than making new plans for the future with them?

But it seems likely that we are not going to manage to have a profitable discussion on this topic. So why don't we just agree to ignore each other, and save everyone the trouble of wading through pages of pointless bickering?

Dio as Trump returns to his home crisis,  he has alienated USA's closest partners.

"This cements the impression of the United States as an unreliable partner. Trump has ostentatiously refused to express his commitment to an agreement that has been the bulwark of Europe-U.S. security relations over the past three generations. He also has declined to say that the United States will work within the previously agreed framework on global warming. While many authoritarian states are cheered by Trump's election and actions, since he is unlikely to press them on human rights and other sore points, traditional U.S. allies are enormously disheartened."
