Face right - paddle left

I'm struggling to progress in the surf and am wondering if it has anything to do with my setup. My stance is facing to the right. But my strong paddling side is on my left. I feel like I'm contorting myself when paddling. I do try to work on paddling to my right but the left is so much more natural...I canoe to the left and was a former raft guide and paddled to the left.

Is this a problem that could be hindering me? Or is it something that's common with Surf SUPers?
Thanks

Tom

I   do  the  same ,  it  just  seems  more  natural .  I'm  trying  to  learn  to  catch  waves  paddling on the  right ,  but  it's  a  stuggle.

Start to accelerate with your weak side, and catch the wave with your strong side.
