handle on PSH boards?

As others have said, I really like to have a handle for carrying the board in and out of the water.  It's great to see a variety of styles, including the paddle loops.  Since I built my own board (a fairly heavy one at that) it was easy to be sure that the paddle handle was at the balance point.  As for grip inside the finger slot, I simply laminated the inside with 4 oz. glass, but didn't hot coat it.  The weave of the glass provides plenty of grip.  This photo shows the finger slot before the deck pad was installed.

This sandy beach entry is a rarity at most of the spots where I surf, so the handle really helps in navigating over rocks and reefs without dinging up the board.

For OEM finger slots, or retrofits using off the shelf components, a bit 3M textured grip tape (the grey stuff, not the sandpaper type) on the inside will really help the grip.  A scrap of Clear Grip deck traction material stuck inside the finger grip would do the same thing.

It's good to see that PSH boards will soon have finger grips.  It's certainly a feature I would want on a new board.

I hope this helps....

Thanks Sam, I will think about it.

I agree. A handle is a must!

And may I suggest adding a single threaded mast insert too? (maybe as an option?)

I'm going to buy a smaller board this spring, and no matter how much I'd like to own a PSH, I will buy a board from another company that has mast/sail inserts. Makes the board so much more versatile...
Umm I dont think Psh are at all interested in windsurfing, and nor should they, buy a windsurfer yourself.... this is STAND UP PADDLE SURFING, not windsurfing ::)
