Apparently I do.

I got back from my dawn patrol this morning and noticed that I failed to strap my board down, WTF.   So, what's the take-away?  An SUP does travel nicely on the roof, fin-first; I mean it didn't even budge.  Second take-away, don't tailgate me...   ;D

Yea Mr. Big, straps are overrated for sure.  Badger, that's the problem, they were on my seat next to me the whole way!  And, sorry OSW I would never be as reckless as to buy a lottery ticket.

You guys could create a video that demonstrates an even faster method than Robert's Blue Planet 1-strap video on strapping your board to the roof.  8)

Straps, racks, pickup beds.....screw all of that !  I vote we all just move to the coast and be able to walk across the sand after a session into the yard, drop the board on the side of house, and walk in the door and take a nap!

Oh yeah, that takes bajillion dollars.   :(

I did it just a few days ago--left Kanaha and started driving, noticed that a rope was flapping, and realized I didn't tie my board down. It had slid forward some, but was in place. I got distracted talking with a very cute surfer girl. Women are dangerous.

Scary Chit! Done it. I am so scattered brain that I'm alway doing ..or, at least, thinking about ..4-5 things at a time. I place my straps at the base of the windshield.  For me it, they have to be line-of-sight.

A number of years ago, in my kayaking days, I was coming in from a day on the water and there was a fellow there with a reporter and cameraman from a local newspaper. This fellow had four beautiful, hand made wooden kayaks. Apparently he made these boats as part of his business and the paper was doing an article on him. They were absolutely gorgeous boats, and after the press left I got talking to him. Anyway, we chatted for a while, and then I went about packing up my gear and he did the same with his four wooden boats. He was parked right beside me, and was in his car getting ready to pull out. I just happened to take a look up and then stopped him and asked him if he had strapped his kayaks down. He all of a sudden got a look of shear terror on his face, shut off his car, and proceeded to thank me profusely. Said he had never done this before and gave me his phone number and said if I ever wanted to take one of his boats out for the day I would be more than welcome to do so. I never did take him up on his offer.

Yikes, that could've gone very wrong, very fast.

How far of a drive, and what kind of speeds do you think you hit?

I'm always so afraid that I-m going to do this I usually double and triple check them, and I open the inner panel to the sunroof so I can see if they're moving around.

Hmm, sounds like I need a sunroof...

A few months ago I managed to drive around 25 minutes with speeds up to 60kph around a windy coastal road with my SIC Bullet 14v1 on my roof rack without straps and I swear when I got to my destination the board was n the exact same position. Unbelievable. I was also distracted by a friend on the beach after I'd loaded the board on the roof.. I like the idea of keeping the straps on the driver's seat. I'm going to do that from now on..

done that--noticed when my board slid off the car and bounced onto the road--might have been going 20 mph at the time--short drive to flat water from my CT house--starboard hrs--no damage, amazingly

now i hold the leashplug rope through the sunroof--works great
