Christmas on Cape Cod

Nature provided a nice little neoprene stocking stuffer to Cape Codders this week.  At minimum, good surfing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

In hind sight, I wish I talked it up some more out on the water.  Two young guys maybe mid to late 20's built like NFL linebackers were go'n for it on every chance.
 
The younger? one had a big ol' Naish with a gopro up front.  I witnessed fearless drops, with some ending in full-on pummels.  Within seconds, he was back at it paddling out.  While  get'n me asre kicked going out, he (the Naish rider) made a fantastic drop and rode it for all it was worth.  On the outside, he told me that the camera's battery was tuckered out from 5 days of action.

Oh yeah, my long time surf and sail buddy Geoff C got one of those great drops right in front of me too!

Too bad them Pat's gave us a lump of coal today!

It was a Zonerfest on midwinter beach day, they were texting in from all over... it was a frickin' invasion.

I lied, told them it sucked.... told them other places were better... but they kept coming

Hey.... here's an idea.... get a movie camera and at least hang at the beach and suck down a few beers after the session. We won't make you go in

   NFL linebacker is no joke! I was talking to the older "smaller" one on the beach after the sesh and he said that he was a strength coach at a college in Connecticut. His younger "bigger" brother just graduated college and is a legit NFL prospect. I've never seen a bigger dude on a board!, nevermind where he could find a wetsuit that big.
   My best ride of the day was a steep drop from a head high into a long rideable shoulder. As I was getting a beat down on the inside I noticed both these guys take off. The bigger one going to my left on the outside, and the smaller to my right on the inside . I was a little nervous with 500-600 lbs. between them coming at me , but they were good riders, and I came out unscathed. I rode a few more with them, and they were great guys

Thanks for the epilogue 8!

Since I told my wife about the 2 big guys going for it, I had to share the pictures.  She said that she couldn't get a feel for the size of the guy on the Mana.

As she left, I said come back and compare him to me.  With her eyes popping and a quick smirk, I knew what was coming next, what are those things sticking out of the wetsuit twigs or legs!

My friend, wife and I have a weekend ritual of walking his dogs around Nickerson State Park's Cliff pond on  early mornings. 

We tried today for the first time since u-no-when.  We barely got there 'cause of the still deep-enough snow.

My shark fortified heart did skip a beat when when got stuck way the hell the out.  The deer sh!t in the trail was almost continuous.  It must have been preserved in the snow. 

A deer carcass was providing a much needed brunch to the birds out in the middle of the pond.  I suspect that the coyotes chased it out there, similar to what happened in Orleans 2 weeks ago.  Another Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom site was another coyote skeleton stripped clean at the waters edge.  My vegetarian friend had had enough when the dogs started going after intestines!

Spring is in the air!  not yet!!
